The First hour of the show will be Case of the Mondays with Lynette (Myself) and Anu Vaidya then Destiny Maynard will be joining me to tell her son Christopher’s story. This is going to be one of those shows you are going to need your tissues handy for but these stories must be told. I am honored to have this courageous mother come share her families story.
Christopher was born on December 5th, 2003. 8lb 3oz 19 1/2 inches long. Healthy boy. He was vaccinated at birth. He progressed normally. Very smart boy. His father and I stuck with the CDC vaccine schedule.
Around the times of vaccines, he always had a little trouble bouncing back to himself after vaccines. Around 4 he was having some respiratory issues. We were told he had asthma. He also ended up being sent to an allergist. This revealed he had some sensitivity to mold, grass and farm animals.
Other than these issues Christopher was a very healthy child and my eyes. When he was 3 he started T ball. At 5 played for dads club at his school. When baseball season was out he played football. He never stopped he always was doing something whether it be playing a sport getting straight A’s in school or hanging out with his brother scootering or riding bikes.
The day our life would change forever and we didn’t even know it. June 29th, 2018. The boys had their school physicals that day. The doctor came in and talk to me about getting them the HPV vaccine. I had turned it down once before for my older son. However, he said the boys are getting older and this is protection for them and their future partners. So because I trusted him both boys were vaccinated with the HPV vaccine. Everything was fine for a couple of weeks and then Christopher started complaining of a headache around July 20th I wanna say. Of course, I just had him take some ibuprofen. Then about a week after that, he started to complain that his throat was a little bit sore.
One day I was at work and I got a text message that his head hurt really bad. And that his throat was getting worse so I told him that when I got home from work I would take him to the express care that was August 1st.They did a strep culture. Negative. They then told me that I should just treat his symptoms and we left.
Monday, August 6th Christopher started football practice. What I didn’t know then was that he was having a horrible headache and feeling like you is going to get sick or pass out so he basically sat out all of the 1st practiced came home and slept from 630 ish until 230 Tuesday, August 7th woke up went to football practice again and threw up Basically the whole practice. Apparently, they were trying to get Christopher to do push UPS and the children were huddled around him chanting his name and he was so weak that he couldn’t even do push UPS. He came home from football that day Absolutely exhausted. We got him some food because I knew he hadn’t ate anything and thought maybe he was just getting dehydrated from not really taking care of himself since I had been at work and he had been sleeping most of the day so he ate a little bit and went to bed about 6 6 30 that night and slept until Wednesday evening when I got home from work I will come up took him to the emergency Room…..”
